Monument to Leopold Mazoch in Lviv is set in front of the entrance to the Masoch Cafe along Serbska Street 7 in the central part of the city. The monument is set in a special place – in the house opposite the future writer-novelist and doctor of law Leopold von Sacher-Masoch lived (born in Lviv in 1836).
It should be noted that the Lviv monument to Masoch is the first in the world. It was opened on April 8, 2008. The initiators of the creation were the owner of the Masoch Cafe.
Sculpture created in full growth of the writer – 1 meter 70 centimeters. Bronze Masoch conceals an intrigue – apparently the monument looks decent enough, however, surprises are hidden inside. So, looking through the window on the chest of an Austrian writer, you can look at erotic pictures, and by thrusting your hand into the left pocket of your trousers you can feel “something” – not everyone dares, but they say it’s for luck.
The author of the monument, sculptor Vladimir Tsisarik, before the creation of the work, as he himself admitted, read through probably all of the writer’s works, which helped to better embody the image.
The monument immediately won great popularity and almost all the guests of Lviv come to take photos of it.
